Why do we need to volunteer?

The life blood of many non-profit organizations are its volunteers and fundraisers.  Each year, ROYBA looks at opportunities to raise funds through special events powered by board members and volunteers throughout our entire organization.

In addition to reaching out to businesses for sponsorships, our special events listed below provide the means to raise funds for many types of needs.  For example,

  • annual player registration scholarships
  • field maintenance and improvements
  • marketing
  • donations to City and School District projects

We understand your time is valuable so we do our best to focus on the events that provide the least amount of time with the greatest benefit to the organization.  We appreciate the time and energy to make this happen !

  • The Rogers - Otsego Youth Baseball Association is a volunteer organization that relies on the volunteer assistance of all its members. To ensure everyone is doing their part, each family will be required to complete one DIBS session per player.

  • $200 DEPOSIT PER PLAYER will be collected from all families participating in the Rogers - Otsego Youth Baseball Association, both House and Traveling. Checks should be made payable to Rogers - Otsego Youth Baseball and will be collected no later than tryouts (Travel Players) or Uniform Pickup (House Players). You may also bring your check to uniform fittings if you wish. Players will not receive a uniform and will not be allowed to participate in games if a check has not been received.

  • All checks must be turned in before the player will be issued a uniform. Checks will be shredded upon each family fulfilling their volunteer requirement of 1 DIBS session per PLAYER.

  • You will have the option of buying out your volunteer requirement at the beginning of the season. The buyout option will be $150 and MUST be elected when you turn in your check.

  • All volunteer hours will be tracked using DIBS software which is specially designed for Rogers - Otsego Youth Baseball and integrated with our web site. Many of our families will be familiar with this program as it is used for other sports their children may be involved in (including hockey and basketball). You will be able to use your SportsEngine username to sign up for available volunteer opportunities.

  • Scheduling will be on a first come, first served basis. Once registration is complete, an email blast will go out to all families with further instructions on how to access the DIBS software to sign up for volunteer positions

Sometime near the beginning of the season, we will determine the volunteer hours needed and the number of volunteers we have available. At that time we will determine who will be eligible for DIBs exemptions. At a minimum, all Head Coaches will receive an exemption from DIBs. If you are NOT a Head Coach, you will be expected to give us your DIBs check at Tryouts (Travel players) or Uniform Pickup (House Players). There will be NO exeptions, if your name does not appear as a Head Coach, you MUST turn in your check.

Volunteer opportunities will be posted on the website under Dibs
